Man Dies In Eden Crash

A 53-year-old Pambula man died and four women were seriously injured in a head-on collision near Eden at the weekend.

The accident happened on the Princes Hwy, 150m from Broadwater Rd, at about 12.35am on Saturday.

Police said a Toyota Corolla hire car driven by a young Irish tourist and the Pambula man's Holden Statesman sedan collided.

The man was taken to Canberra Hospital with massive head and internal injuries and later died.

A 33-year-old Queensland woman, who was a passenger in the man's car, was taken to Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.

Two Irish women from the Corolla, aged 24 and 22, are in critical and serious conditions respectively in Canberra Hospital.

A third Irish woman is in a serious but stable condition in Bega Hospital.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
